I like to think of Creative Strategy as the human brain 🧠

The left side of the brain is more verbal, analytical and orderly, while the right side of the brain is more creative, visual and intuitive.

A successful creative strategist blends analytical thinking with creative intuition.

Skills you need to be a Creative Strategist:

  • Copywriting
  • Project Management
  • How to analyze data in Ads Manager
  • How to communicate your ideas clearly
  • How to source creators (or manage someone who sources creators for you)
  • How to manage copywriters
  • How to manage video editors
  • How to manage creators
  • Video Editing/Graphic Design is a plus

💡 I’ve learned that learning how to create an ad yourself helps you understand each step in the process and it makes you more valuable. Try making a UGC video yourself from beginning to end. Research, concept, script write, make a shot list, shoot, and edit ✨

Areas I like to dive into are:

  • Ads Manager (to see what is currently working & what has worked in the past)
  • Customer Reviews (to learn the customer's talking style, what they like, what they dislike and what questions they would like answers to)
  • Competitors Ad Library (to analyze what angles they are using, what ads have been running for a long time, and check out the demographics they are targeting)
  • Reddit, Facebook Groups, Tiktok Search (anywhere your customers are talking about and reviewing your product)
  • The 16 Human Desires (see which human desire the top performing ads are hitting and which can be tested more)
